Rematics and AI Blox Featured on Kanaal Z: Showcasing Edge AI for Smarter Waste Management

At Rematics, we are proud to see D4T (Daisy4Trucks) featured as a real-world use case of applied AI in waste management – this time on Kanaal Z, as part of a feature about our partner AI Blox and their impressive growth journey.

AI Blox, the Brussels-based start-up building compact, robust edge AI hardware, recently secured a new capital injection with Smartfin, the investment fund led by entrepreneur and financier Jürgen Ingels. Smartfin aims to help AI Blox grow to €100M in revenue by 2030 and establish a leading position in the fast-growing domain of physical AI.

AI Blox’s modular hardware – built around Nvidia’s powerful AI chips – allows companies to process data locally and in real-time, which is crucial for applications where every millisecond counts. Their technology is already used in self-driving forklifts, industrial automation, healthcare, and yes – waste collection trucks.

📺 Kanaal Z captured this story in a recent feature, including an interview with our CEO Bram Peetermans, who explained how Rematics leverages AI Blox technology to:

  • Analyze waste streams in real-time directly on trucks

  • Detect recyclable materials before they are lost to incineration

  • Help collectors and municipalities optimize operations and reduce costs

“This kind of collaboration allows us to make waste collection smarter, safer, and more sustainable – one truck at a time.” – Bram Peetermans, CEO Rematics

With AI Blox scaling up and investors like Smartfin backing their mission, we are excited about the future of edge AI in waste management, and proud to be one of the companies proving its real-world value.
