Rematics has been nominated for the Trends Impact Awards 2026 with D4T (Daisy4Truck), our intelligent monitoring platform for waste collection. The nomination places D4T in the Future-defining technologies category, alongside Belgian projects that use technology to accelerate the sustainability transition.
The Trends Impact Awards are an initiative of Trends-Tendances, PwC and Antwerp Management School, supported by ING. Now in its fifth edition, the programme rewards projects with a measurable, positive impact on society. The focus is deliberately on real-world results rather than on technology for its own sake.
Why this category
The Future-defining technologies award looks at deep tech for the transition, data platforms that create transparency, and artificial intelligence applied to sustainability. One criterion stands out: demonstrable impact, not technological novelty.
That is exactly where D4T operates. Our technology combines industrial cameras, rugged edge hardware, computer vision and cloud software to analyse waste at the moment of collection. The system recognises more than 30 waste fractions, detects contamination and flags hazardous materials such as batteries, gas cylinders and fire extinguishers in real time.
"A large share of what ends up in the incinerator today is still perfectly recyclable. We are convinced that better insight leads to better sorting behaviour and more recycling. This nomination confirms that technology only creates value when it delivers results in the field", explains Bram Peetermans, CEO Rematics
What happens next
Nominated companies present and defend their project before a jury of Trends journalists, PwC and AMS experts and sustainability leaders. The pitches take place in September 2026. A public vote runs in parallel and determines two audience awards.
The winners will be announced during the award ceremony on 19 November 2026 at Maison de la Poste, Tour & Taxis in Brussels.
We are proud that D4T is on that list. And even prouder of the teams driving out every day with our technology on board, turning waste data into concrete improvements.
